AUGUST IS HANDMADE PAPER-MAKING TIME!

August is a wonderful time of year for making handmade paper from the herbs and flowers in the garden.We made a wide variety of beautiful papers. Some of them were immedialtely into paper bowls. These will be allowed to dry and then be coated with a transparrent sizing to make them permanent and hard. The colors are amazing!

Making paper requires lots of water in the beginning and then everything has to dry out before you can do something with it. Here are the sheets and paper bowls that were dripping wet yesterday, now entirely dried out.

These strawberries ripening in late summer provide a pleasant segue from our Strawberry Garden Time of spring and summer to The 12 Days of Christmas...One Day at a Time. SUPERBERRY HARVEST TIME

Our Elderberries are deep purple and plump, ready for picking this week along with the aronia berries. These two super berries blend beautifully in our unique Elderberry/Aronia Jam. eE'll begin processing it in August and it wil be ready for our holiday sale in November.
