2012 DESIGNER'S SHOWHOUSE DECK

Conner, one of our studio assistants attended the designer's reception at the house and took these shots. The plants from Haling's Greenhouse look good the minute they are planted, giving the feeling that the containers had been growing for some time.  We did a container-scape across the length of this bridge deck accented through out with the color of the year, tangerine tango.

GUEST ARTIST SYD BAKER

Syd Baker makes some of the most ingenious birdhouses I've seen.  He is expert at detail and precision and this shows in his exquisite craftsmanship.  But the cool thing is that besides being well-crafted, Syd's birdhouses are also cleverly designed and highly creative- no two are the same.  They are all "outdoorable" and tailor-made for garden wrens.  Syd was busy all day today greeting and helping customers on opening day of our Spring Event....Get Dirty!  Come visit us and see Syd's unique birdhouses- you may just have to take one home!

GUEST ARTIST LISA FREEMAN

Lisa Freeman has had a very busy spring.  She's created all new cards, message blocks, awesome owl pillows and beaded suncatchers, for Get Dirty.  Lots of color, lots of energy and lots of new things!  Lisa has also been heavily involved in our joint display at the Designer's Showhouse.  She has shouldered the lion's share of the work and thanks to her constant pampering, her flowers in containers are breathtaking.  You'll want to make it a point to see this Showhouse..it's a beauty and then stop by our

NEW GARDEN STAKES FOR SPRING FROM STEVE

Our spring theme, Get Dirty...but not that dirty! has inspired  several new garden stakes for spring. The first is a large flower carrying the theme itself...
...then there's the little chipmunk eating a strawberry who reminds you to "Nourish Your Soul"...
... and the wise owl with the plaid sunflower advising you to "Bloom Bold!"
There's a new flock of birds with a butterfly friend in the Mini-Stakes...
...and two Mini-Message Stakes;  "Well, Bust my Buttons" for the Over the Rainbow Collection and" Stress spelled backwards...DESSERTS!"

GET DIRTY GUEST ARTIST NATALIE THOMAS

Natalie started her pottery career studying under master potter Judy Thompson.  In 2009 she started teaching wheel throwing classes at The Potter’s Obsession in south Kansas City and is now part owner. Along with her love of clay is a love for garden art.  Of course, shes's a natural to join our ranks and we are exicted to have Natialie join us for some fun at The Summer’s Garden. She tried a new technique on the humming bird feeders and bells where she gently splashed glaze or colored slip onto round pieces to leave a perfect teardrop shape as well as other shapes like circles and stripes.  Her glazes are bright and vibrant blues, purples, greens and punches of tangerine tango, the 2012 color of the year.  Natalie has a wonderful selection of toad houses, fairy gardens, bells, feeders and even ceramic totem components.
