HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM From the Summer's Garden
At this time of Thanksgiving we extend our gratitude to our customers and followers for your patronage and support. May you get the bigger half of the wishbone this season! All of us at From the Summer's Garden want to send a special Thanksgiving wish to Nathan, our former studio assistant, now studying abroad in Italy. We are thinking of you and grateful for your hard work and enthusiasm. Here's what the studio looks like right now during PEACE TO YOU:
DISCARDED WATER BOTTLES + PAPER MACHE = BOTTLE ANGELS!
Last year for Marshmallow World we created hypertufa Snofolk. These were fun little snow people entirely sculpted by hand. It was a fun process because it was very similar to actually rolling balls of snow.
For PEACE TO YOU we've created Bottle Angels, repurposed from discarded water bottles and sculpted with recycled paper mache. Each one is a bit different because they too are made by hand.

CUSTOM DEMONSTRATIONS FOR GROUPS
The holiday sale event is a great time for your group to enjoy a custom demonstration and an exclusive shopping experience at From the Summer's Garden. The Prairie Gardener's and the Women of St. Lukes learned how to make a hypertufa box planter and a cast leaf water basin and didn't even get their hands dirty!
From the Summer's Garden has designed a series of Hypertufa kits that simplify the process making it a snap to make your own tufa containers. Available now at PEACE TO YOU.

WHAT A WEEKEND!
Marilyn Lake and three other members of the Heartland Bell Ringers created musical magic with their bells. The pleasant weather allowed for windows to be opened and the music carried out through the garden. Many thanks to these talented musicians!

PEACE TO YOU IN THE GARDEN!
Here are the garden stakes being featured at PEACE TO YOU this year. In addition to inspirational message stakes there are two types of display or pedestal stakes, the large wing stake and the peace symbol stake that can be lighted for the holidays.
A string of small twinkle lights is easy to wrap around this peace symbol stake. What a great idea for a more unusual outdoor holiday decoration!
Here are four designs of stepping stones featuring a PEACE theme.

HYPERTUFA PEACE PLANTER
This is not your usual hypertufa planter. It comes with a side shelf on which you can display sculpture or even interesting nature bits like mossy rocks. During PEACE TO YOU we are featuring lavender plants which are very happy when planted in hyperutfa pots and can be successfully overwintered with out getting wet feet!

IT'S WREATHING TIME!
Dried flowers and herbs from this past summer's garden are everywhere. Bees and hummingbirds actually fly into the open doorway to check our progress. The sweet smells of the plant materials must draw them in. We have been drying flowers and herbs all summer and Laurie's dried roses are very fragrant this year. It's wreathing time when we make our all natural Summer's Garden wreaths (still just $35) and seasonal home decor wreaths for our holiday sale, PEACE TO YOU....and look who's back! Blaze, one of our studio assistants for many years, is a very talented second-year architecture student at KU. When it comes to wreath-making he "gets it" and really does a great job combining the materials into beautiful finished wreaths. If I must say so myself, the wreaths are especially nice this year, reflecting the favorable growing season. Perhaps this is the year to get one for yourself!

PEACE TO YOU - ANGEL LANTERNS
The angel lid lifts so you can insert a candle into the votive holder inside. The light flickers between layers of the concrete rings separated by sparkling glass beads.
This larger candle or solar light stand is perfect for a porch or step. You can place a solar powered light or a pillar candle in a glass hurricane in the protective alcove guarded by an angel in deep peaceful repose.

PEACE TO YOU LAVENDER FROM HALINGS GREENHOUSE
Lisa Freeman from Halings Greenhouse in Prairie Village, grew really nice hardy lavendar for sale this year. We sold the small plants at our spring sale, PEACE ON MY PORCH. For PEACE TO YOU, we'll have larger lavendar plants in hypertufa "monkeybread" pots. Lavender and these pots are a perfect match. The lavendar will actually overwinter in the pots with a good cozy leaf mulch. In spring, all you have to do is brush away the mulch and set the pot where you want it for the growing season. Because the tufa pot breathes it drains the lavender perfectly, never allowing it to become waterlogged.

BOULEVARD BAKERY- Home of the Decorated Cookies
Most times when I approach a plate of decorated cookies it is not a difficult decision to pass them up usually for something better like good dark chocolate. That all changed when Loretta Peeler, one of the baker's at Boulevard Bakery of Kansas City, brought me a box of her decorated cookies. Made fresh daily with all real ingredients, they melted in my mouth with a burst of flavor...and they look terrific. In fact, Loretta will customize cookies to order. These cookies are so good we'd like to share them with you at our holiday sale, PEACE TO YOU. Loretta sent me photos of her Christmas designs and I sent her our color palette and how to decorate them. In no time, she was at the door with a box of these beautiful cookies we're calling our PEACE cookies.
